You retain full ownership of your documents, and you are responsible for verifying all extracted dates, renewal deadlines, and official requirements.
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Technefide Labs ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Altheru mobile application for iOS/iPadOS and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Altheru, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and License Grant
2.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction) to use Altheru. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
2.2 Limited License
Subject to these Terms, Technefide grants you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to download, install, and use Altheru on compatible Apple iOS/iPadOS devices that you own or control, strictly for personal, non-commercial organizational purposes.
3. User Content & Local Storage
3.1 Ownership
You retain 100% ownership of and all intellectual property rights in any documents, images, text, notes, or files you scan, import, or store in Altheru ("User Content"). Technefide claims no ownership over your User Content.
3.2 Local Storage & Backup Responsibility
Because Altheru uses local on-device encryption (AES-GCM) without an automatic central cloud vault:
- You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your device and documents.
- Technefide cannot recover lost documents if your device is erased, lost, damaged, or if the app is uninstalled without a backup.
4. Professional & Legal Disclaimers (Crucial)
NO PROFESSIONAL ADVICE: Altheru is designed solely as an organizational aid and reminder tracking application. Altheru is NOT a substitute for legal, immigration, medical, financial, or tax advice.
- Passport & Travel Deadlines: Passport renewal rules, visa expiration dates, and 6-month validity requirements vary by country and destination. Always confirm entry and validity requirements directly with the relevant embassy, consulate, or governmental authority.
- Medical & Lab Data: Document comparison features and lab metrics extraction are for personal informational tracking only and do not constitute medical diagnosis, treatment, or clinical advice. Always consult a licensed healthcare professional.
- Contracts & Legal Papers: Extracted lease terms, insurance deductibles, and contract dates must be verified against original legal documents.
5. AI Extraction & OCR Accuracy
Altheru provides automated optical character recognition (OCR) and optional artificial intelligence (AI) metadata extraction. You acknowledge and agree that:
- OCR and AI models may occasionally misread numbers, letters, dates, names, or values due to document formatting, scan quality, or lighting conditions.
- You must manually review and confirm all extracted fields (including expiration dates, renewal deadlines, and holder names) on the review screen before relying on them.
- Technefide is not liable for missed deadlines or penalties resulting from unverified AI extractions.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive the source code of the Service.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features or usage limits of the Service.
- Abuse, overload, or disrupt backend APIs used for optional AI extraction and vault queries.
7. Usage Limits & Service Tiers
Altheru offers core functionality free of charge. Optional cloud AI features (such as AI metadata extraction and Vault Q&A) may be subject to monthly quotas or fair-use limits (e.g., 5 document scans and 20 questions per month for free tiers). Technefide reserves the right to modify quota allocations or introduce optional premium subscription tiers with advance notice.
8. Intellectual Property
The Altheru name, logo, design system ("Sanctuary"), icons, user interface, software code, and documentation are the exclusive intellectual property of Technefide Labs and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TECHNEFIDE LABS, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, TRAVEL DELAYS, GOVERNMENT FINES, OR MISSED DEADLINES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
11. Apple App Store Additional Terms
If you downloaded Altheru from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and Technefide Labs only, not Apple Inc.
- Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in Santa Clara County, California.
13. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to revise these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. Continued use of Altheru following notice of changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
